
Jim McConville

Appointed to the board of Aviva plc on 1 December 2020.
Jim was previously Group Finance Director of The Phoenix Group, where he was responsible for all aspects of the Group’s financial strategy and management and led the transition programme bringing Phoenix and Standard Life Assurance together. Prior to that he was Chief Financial Officer of Northern Rock from 2010 to 2012, and for many years worked for Lloyds TSB Group (now Lloyds Banking Group plc) in a number of senior finance and strategy related roles. Jim’s expertise makes him a strong Chair of the Aviva Life Holdings Board and its subsidiary Aviva Life & Pensions UK Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Aviva plc. Jim’s experience also significantly adds to the knowledge and expertise of the Customer & Sustainability Committee, Audit Committee, Risk Committee and Nomination and Governance Committee.
Jim is a Trustee of the Leuchie Forever Fund and of the National Galleries of Scotland.
Professional qualifications and memberships
Jim is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and undertook an Advanced Management Programme at Harvard Business School.
