Czech: Insurance company Aviva is offering CZK 10,000 to sixth-formers for passing their school-leaving exams

Life insurance for children as an investment has undergone a boom in recent years.

Life insurance for children as an investment has undergone a boom in recent years. Virtually every insurance company in the Czech Republic has various types of children's policies in its portfolio. Talisman, Aviva's fine-tuned children's policy, started offering a number of radical innovations straight after the New Year.

"We have nearly six years' experience in children's insurance and that has allowed us to bring in a series of improvements - if you take additional serious illness coverage for example, we have managed to relax the payout conditions, increase payments for some claim items and extend the list of insurance events covered, all this whilst reducing the premium paid by the client", explains Pavel Matoušek, general manager of Aviva životní pojišťovna, as.

"There are many other improvements, though, and there is no doubt that the new generation Talisman will rank amongst the very best children's insurance policies on the market. Through offering a financial bonus for attaining an important educational milestone, we are underlining our commitment to forward-thinking and also arming parents with a certain motivational element for their children," Pavel Matoušek adds.

The Talisman policy was brought in nearly six years ago. At the time it boasted a range of unique features and was the Rolls Royce of the children's insurance market. Aviva was the first to introduce additional serious illness cover onto the Czech market and this then became the inspiration for rival insurance products.

The main changes to the Talisman policy since the New Year are as follows:

  • New or fine-tuned child cover
    • New additional cover for injuries without long-term or permanent consequences, creating, in conjunction with the fine-tuned additional cover for long-term or permanent consequences of injury, comprehensive injury cover for children
    • Revamped additional serious illness cover
    • New additional hospitalisation cover
  • Optional insurance amounts for additional child cover, amongst the highest on the market
  • Reductions for additional child coverage - packages at favourable terms
  • Possibility to insure a second adult
  • Additional cover option ensuring exemption from payment of the insurance premium in the event of the adult's full work incapacity
  • CZK 10,000 bonus in the event of passing the Maturita (Czech A Levels) (entry age of children 0-7 years).
