Directors of the insurer Aviva and of Caja España Vida celebrated the 10th anniversary of their collaboration agreement today in León. Since it was created, Caja España Vida has increased its portfolio to 200,000 clients and over €1,600 million of assets. In addition to this, it has a broad range of pension plans suited to all profiles, the capital of which amounts to €660 million.
Caja España Vida covers the requirements of the entire life cycle of the bank’s clients in the area of life insurance and pensions, and it operates through the bank’s 849 branch offices over the whole of the Spanish territory, particularly in Castilla and León.
Francisco Anel, director general of Caja España Vida, has noted that: “It is a great satisfaction to contribute to the fact that a growing number of people are becoming aware of the importance of long-term savings, so as not to lose almost half of their purchasing power once they reach retirement.”
Aviva: 10 years in insurance banking
Hand in hand with Caja España Vida, the insurer chose León to commemorate its 10th anniversary in insurance banking; Aviva pioneered this business area in Spain, and it has been consolidated as an important distribution channel for Aviva, thanks to the agreements it reached with six of the biggest savings banks in Spain.
With a business model that has set a trend in insurance banking, Aviva has created holding companies at 50% with each of its partners specialising in the commercialisation of its life insurance and pensions. Today, these companies cover the whole of the national territory, through 4,100 branch offices. Over the past 10 years, the sales of insurance banking of Aviva in Spain have continued to rise. In 2009, a business volume of €2,484 million was generated, with €13,720 million in managed funds.
Ignacio Izquierdo, managing director of Aviva España, highlighted that: “It satisfies us to celebrate our tenth anniversary in insurance banking with Caja España Vida; this business has always continued to evolve very positively thanks to the exceptional work of our partners and specialised teams such as that of Caja España Vida.”
Conference of Pedro Duque in León
Among the commemorative actions celebrated today and sponsored by Aviva, the astronaut Pedro Duque held a conference in León for employees and clients of Aviva and Caja España Vida, with talk of the anecdotes and experiences of his life as an astronaut.
Among other matters, Duque commented that: “There are similarities between travelling in space and retiring. At the outset, both things may appear to be unreachable, but everyone gets there. Also in both cases, in order to achieve our goals or so as not to lose what has cost us so much to achieve, the key is to prepare constantly and over time.”
