Aviva has today announced that Brigid Murphy, director of regional brokers for the UK general insurance business, is to leave her role in June.

Brigid, who joined the UK’s largest insurer at the beginning 2009 as director of trading and took over the director of regional broker role at the end of last year, is returning to Canada.

Her role will now be split into two directors of trading, with Gareth Hemming and Jon Neill being promoted from within Brigid’s team. Both will report directly to Janice Deakin, intermediary and partnerships director.

Janice said: “I owe Brigid a huge debt for the last 18 months and the fantastic work she has done with the trading teams and helping to build our relationships with independent brokers. Although I will be very sad to see Brigid go, I am really pleased to be able to announce the appointment of Jon and Gareth, who have been with Aviva for some time and will be familiar faces to brokers.

“Maintaining the momentum we’ve created around Club 110 and the Broker Independence Group and increasing our focus on independent regional brokers is vital to us. I have therefore decided to split the role of trading director into two. I look forward to working with Jon and Gareth as they build on the great work Brigid has started.”
