The directors of the Aviva insurance group, Caja España and its sister company Caja España Vida have met today in León to celebrate the fact that Aviva now has its first two million customers in Spain.
Caja España Vida, owned by the British insurance company (50%) and the financial institution (50%), has been instrumental in reaching this milestone. Caja España has promoted the distribution of its life and pensions products through its network of 602 branches across most of the country and particularly in Castile and León.
Ignacio Izquierdo, managing director of Aviva España, said: "Our agreement with Caja España is now almost ten years old and we could not be happier with the development of this alliance, which has made Caja España Vida the leading company in Castile and León."
Francisco Javier Ajenjo, deputy director general of Caja España said: "Caja España feels at home in its business relationship with Aviva" and that "we share a business area which has developed a lot over the last few years and which still has a long way to go."
Caja España Vida meets the needs of the entire lifespan of Caja España customers in terms of life insurance and pensions, from childhood insurance to pension plans. In its 10-year plus history, Caja España Vida has managed assets worth over €1.5 billion. It also offers a wide range of pension plans adapted to meet all profiles with assets valued at €660 million.
According to Francisco Anel, director general of Caja España Vida, said: "Our growth shows that the people of Castile and León are more and more aware of the importance of long-term savings, of the role of expert companies so that they can enjoy their retirement without losing any of their purchasing power."
Launch of "Extreme Challenge"
As part of the celebratory proceedings, the managers of Aviva and Caja España have launched a special edition of the book "Extreme Challenge" by Jesús Calleja, sponsored by the insurance company.
Drawing similarities with his activity as a mountain climber, Calleja says: "In order to move forward, every person or company needs to be able to set itself achievable goals and then go out and achieve these goals."
For the mountain climber: "The milestone of these first two million customers which Aviva is celebrating today is part of the challenge of reaching more and more people and helping them plan their future and enjoy a better retirement."
