One of the first steps taken by newly transformed Aviva NDB Insurance is to become the first insurer in the country to offer a free life cover for fathers of newborns. There are around 32,000 births every month in Sri Lanka. Fathers of all the babies born between 21 February and 21 March 2010 qualify to apply for the Rs 200,000 free life cover offered by the company, in a unique corporate responsibility endeavour that would benefit the entire nation.
"Everyone knows that growing families mean growing responsibilities and new parents deserve all the help they can get. The first year of a baby's life is an expensive time. Our free life cover for fathers of newborns will provide financial protection for the family financially, should the unforeseen happen" said Amal Perera, AGM, marketing and planning elaborating on the offer.
The free life cover is primarily directed at fathers of newborns. However mothers may apply if the father is not alive, divorced or separated. The free life cover is valid up to the baby's first birthday.
"The free life cover for new parents is a replication of an offer that Aviva introduced in UK, and as a part of worldwide Aviva, we in Sri Lanka are fortunate to be able to share their insights and expertise. Aviva introduced the free life cover for new parents after researching customer attitudes and motivations and realized that the value of life cover comes sharply into focus mostly when a baby arrives.
"While 37% of new parents in UK had not purchased life insurance, 25% believed that the birth of a child is the best time to obtain a life cover. However, as many as 61% felt they could not afford a life cover. The situation would be similar even in Sri Lanka," observed Amal.
Fathers can easily apply for the free life cover by visiting the nearest Aviva NDB Insurance branch office, asking any Aviva NDB insurance sales professional now branded “Wealth Planners” or by downloading an application from the company's website - www.avivandb.com.
