Aviva France, a major player in life insurance and long-term savings, asset management and non-life insurance, announces the appointment of Laurence Mitrovic as director of legal affairs and compliance from 1 February 2010.
This position had been temporarily covered by Aymeric Oudin, general secretary and director of customer service, purchasing, information systems, logistics and security. She also joins the executive committee.
Forty-six-year-old Laurence Mitrovic graduated with a Masters degree in Law from University Paris II Assas and passed the French bar exams. In 1988, she was admitted to the bar associations of Paris and New York.
She holds an advanced diploma in Business Russian from the Paris Chamber of Commerce (CCIP) and speaks a total of four languages: French, English, Russian and Serbo-Croat. Laurence Mitrovic specialises in international business law and has more than 20 years’ experience in this field.
She began her career in February 1988, working for Bernard-Tessler-Hertz as a business litigation lawyer. In February 1990, she joined the legal firm Monahan & Duhot (now Latham & Watkins), where she specialised in mergers and acquisitions and international arbitration.
In 1992, she moved to the Paris office of the leading American group Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP, where she was promoted to the position of “Counsel to the Firm” in May 1997.
Laurence Mitrovic moved on in 2008 to pursue her international arbitration work under the aegis of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC). In parallel, she teaches on the Masters course in Arbitration and International Business at the University of Versailles – St Quentin-en-Yvelines.
