Australia: Aviva Australia expands distribution through partnership

Aviva today announced an agreement with Wide Bay Australia Ltd ("Wide Bay") to offer life insurance, "Widecover LiFE", through Wide Bay’s 45 branch network.

Aviva today announced an agreement with Wide Bay Australia Ltd ("Wide Bay") to offer life insurance, "Widecover LiFE", through Wide Bay's 45 branch network.

Widecover LiFE offers a fixed cash benefit of up to A$500,000, with an optional Total and Permanent Disablement component, without the need for medical examinations or blood tests, providing a fast and convenient application approval process.  Insurance coverage is immediate, via an online form, with only six questions in the Personal Statement.

Allan Griffiths, chief executive officer of Aviva, said: "We recently achieved a leading position as the number one provider of life insurance in the independent intermediary market (based on 2008 sales) and we want to build on this success."

Aviva has established a world leading position in this area with more than 90 partnerships around the world generating 33% of Aviva's life insurance and superannuation sales.

Our Australian initiative will help tackle head-on the underinsurance problem in Australia, bringing insurance solutions to a segment of the market that is currently under-serviced.

Ron Hancock, managing director of Wide Bay, said: "We are very focused on meeting the needs of our regional communities. I don't think the average person knows where to get life insurance and it's great to be able to meet more of our customers' needs. It's particularly pleasing to be in partnership with Aviva, providing a great product offering with a buying process that is convenient to our customers through our 45 branches and agencies."

Mr Griffiths acknowledges that: "Staff training is very important. Together with Wide Bay, we've invested considerable resources in putting together an extensive training program so that Wide Bay staff can assist its customers apply for life insurance in a manner convenient to the customer."
