From the beginning of September 2008, Aviva Lithuania took over the leadership of the Lithuanian National Network of Responsible Businesses. Aviva was one of the initiators of this network in Lithuania.
From the beginning of September 2008, Aviva Lithuania took over the leadership of the Lithuanian National Network of Responsible Businesses. Aviva was one of the initiators of this network in Lithuania. In March this year, because of its clear, purposeful and measurable social responsibility policy and fostering of traditions of collaboration with the Lithuanian public, Aviva Lithuania was awarded the title of "Socially Responsible Firm of 2007" in the foreign firms category of the National Responsible Businesses Awards established by the Ministry of Social Security and Labour of the Republic of Lithuania.
The Lithuanian National Network of Responsible Businesses, which unites businesses exclusively on a voluntary initiative basis, is part of the network of the United Nations Global Compact initiative, which unites more than 3,000 organisations globally. The basic mission of the Lithuanian National Network is to encourage the spread of responsible business practices in Lithuania, as part of the conditions of development. The businesses united in this network have the opportunity to exchange information, experience and innovations, to engage in mutual teaching/learning, to improve business strategies and to generally implement projects that benefit the public, thereby contributing to harmonious development in Lithuania.
"During our leadership of the Lithuanian National Network of Responsible Businesses we will share our accumulated experience in the field of socially responsible business activity with other firms. We plan to focus our attention on discussions about creating working conditions that are safe, healthy, high-quality and attractive to employees of Lithuanian firms. We have access to the experience of the international Aviva Group, which has deep traditions of social responsibility", said Aviva Lithuania general manager, Asta Ungulaitienė.
Among the Network's other priorities for 2008 is the annual Network Conference, which is to take place on 25 November. This Conference will be dedicated to the discussion of social responsibility issues for firms and the annual meeting of General Managers in the Network.
Aviva Lithuania also chairs the committee of the Lithuanian Life Insurance Companies Association. It is a member of Investors' Forum, an association of the largest and most active investors in Lithuania's economy, and also a long-term member of the British Chamber of Commerce.
