The market for exclusive yachts continues to grow. In the Netherlands this market is made up of around 50,000 vessels. Every year the number of people worldwide who can afford a luxury or super yacht increases by more than 10,000. Amongst this target group the most important reason for the purchase is the high degree of privacy on board and in port. Alongside the popular Spanish and French Rivieras, Delta Lloyd sees an emerging market in new sailing resorts in Greece, Croatia, Dubai, Asia and especially Thailand. Owners of exclusive yachts look for locations with a wide range of amenities and attractions and an airport close to their moorings. It is becoming more and more difficult for this target group to find a qualified crew for the vessel.

As the largest water sports insurer in the Netherlands, Delta Lloyd is playing a key role in these developments with its expertise, conditions and standards, on the same wavelength as this demanding target group. The Xclusive Luxury Yacht and Super Yacht Insurance products have been especially developed for owners of these kinds of yachts, with moorings inside or outside the Netherlands.

Activities during the HISWA in-water boat show
Delta Lloyd is a partner of the HISWA-In Water Boat Show. This large-scale water sports event is held from Tuesday 2 up to and including Sunday 7 September 2008 at the Marina Seaport in IJmuiden. Members of the Delta Lloyd Core Team are present for each day of the HISWA, including Olympic silver-medallists in the Yngling class: Annemieke Bes, Mandy Mulder and Merel Witteveen. Marcelien de Koning and Lobke Berkhout, who won silver in the 470 class are also at the HISWA. The Delta Lloyd Solar Boat Team, which won the Frisian Solar Challenge convincingly in June, display their solar-energy propelled boat. Sailing boats are available to visitors at the Sailing Proficiency Centre and there is an opportunity to "sail" in a sailing simulator.

Every day an "optimist", the one-man sailboat for young people, is raffled off. On the final day of the HISWA, Delta Lloyd names the winner of the half winder design competition. The winner receives their design for real, brought to life by Gaastra Sails. Alongside all these sporting activities, from their stand, specialists from Delta Lloyd give out information about prevention and insurance in water sports.
