Almost three quarters of German citizens have never heard of the basic pension ? or at least not in any detail ? as is shown by a recent study. Delta Lloyd is now helping to remedy this situation by providing brokers with a comprehensive information package to be used for advising people on this complex subject.
Almost three quarters of all of German citizens have never heard of the basic pension - or at least not in any detail - as is shown by a representative study carried out for a number of clients by the TNS Infratest public opinion research institute. In this study just under 1800 people aged between 14 and 65 were asked what they knew about the matter of pension provision.
Against this background, it is no wonder that according to the study only a few of those questioned - in fact only 0.6 percent - were planning to start a basic pension scheme in the next five years. "There is clearly a great lack of knowledge among the public on the matter of the basic pension. For many this type of state-supported provision for retirement remains a complete mystery", is how Wolfgang Fuchs, marketing director at Delta Lloyd Deutschland AG interprets the results. "However, this also means above all that this is an area with enormous potential for advising people, as this is the only way in which people can be convinced of the advantages of this type of provision."
Advice folder as an aid for meetings with customers
Delta Lloyd has now compiled an information package on the subject of the basic pension, to provide brokers with a wide range of support when meeting customers. At the core of the package is an advice folder which the broker can use in the first instance to explain the situation with the statutory pensions system and which then uses three different analysis blocks to highlight the shortcomings in the customer's current provision, analyse his individual situation in terms of provision and project the tax advantages arising. In this way, in a step-by-step process the customer is led from the existing shortfall through to the state-supported pension. The individual steps are clearly set out in an accompanying guide, with the package being rounded off by a series of questions and answers on the basic pension.
Brokers can order the package free of charge from Delta Lloyd's marketing competence centre: telephone: 0611 773 2700, e-mail kcv@deltalloyd.de.
