The Belgian oversight authority, the CBFA, has approved the takeover by the Delta Lloyd Group of Swiss Life Belgium.
The Belgian oversight authority, the CBFA, has approved the takeover by the Delta Lloyd Group of Swiss Life Belgium. The new organisation becomes the fourth most significant player on the Belgian group insurance market and the number seven in individual life insurance policies. With this takeover, Belgium provides a sound second domestic market for the Delta Lloyd Group. The proposed composition of the new combined board of directors has been released at the same time.
Frank Blankers, former chairman of the board of Delta Lloyd Insurance, becomes the CEO of the new organisation. His board of directors is made up of the commercial director, Hugo De Cupere (Delta Lloyd Life), the financial director Thierry Van Rossum (Swiss Life Belgium) and the director of operations Jan Van Autreve (Swiss Life Belgium).
Frank Blankers began his career in the Delta Lloyd Group in 2002 as divisional chairman of the direct division (OHRA). In October 2005 he became chairman of the board of Delta Lloyd Insurance. As part of this, he took on various directorial roles within Achmea.
Hugo De Cupere began his career in 1986 at CGU and took on a number of different commercial roles. In 2001 he became commercial director North for Winterthur and since 2005 he has been the CCO and acting director of Delta Lloyd Life.
Thierry Van Rossum began his financial career at Coopers & Lybrand as an auditor. In 2002 he became the CFO of Swiss Life Belgium following various financial roles within the Swiss group. After the takeover of Swiss Life Belgium by SNS REAAL he became the provisional CEO of Swiss Life Belgium.
Jan Van Autreve began his career as an academic assistant to the Vlerick School of Management. After various roles as a financial analyst for "De Tijd" and "KBC Securities", he became CIO of Swiss Life Belgium in 2004. Since 2007 he has been the COO of Swiss Life Belgium.
Appointments to the board of directors are subject to the approval of the oversight authority, the CBFA.
