Aviva životní pojišťovna, as, which specialises in investment life insurance products, has significantly expanded its range of investment programmes (funds) for its clients. In conjunction with Credit Suisse and Pioneer Investments, Aviva brought in four new funds on 1 June 2008, together with a revamped version of the existing UL Equity Global fund, under the new name UL Equity World.
"Through expanding the investment opportunities available, we are offering our clients more attractive investment opportunities, combined with comprehensive risk coverage. For example the UL Aggressive Multibrand fund gives Aviva clients the opportunity to become the first in the Czech Republic to invest in the underlying fund Pioneer Multibrand - Pioneer PF Global Progressive, even if just through regular small-scale investments," says Karel Veselý, Aviva's commercial director.
"They may also be tempted by UL Equity Mineral Wealth, which is our response to the rise in popularity of the commodities sectors," Veselý adds.
As part of its range of alternative investments, Aviva is the first insurance company on the market to offer a fund focused on emerging market bonds. The newly introduced funds are available to new and existing clients.
Aviva's new funds:
UL Equity Mineral Wealth
This fund focuses on the mineral wealth sector, which has recently been undergoing a boom. The underlyings are made up of assets in the subfund Credit Suisse Bond Fund (Lux) Global Resources, which invests in shares in companies dealing with the distribution, mining and funding of and trading in metals, mineral wealth, energy resources, etc.
UL Equity Europe
This fund is focused on Europe share markets and expands the geographical focus of the equity funds offered. The underlyings are made up of assets in the subfund Credit Suisse MultiFund (Lux) Equity Europe, which hunts out the best equity funds, focusing on countries in Western and Eastern Europe.
UL Aggressive Multibrand
This fund offers an aggressive investment strategy for clients, who demand maximum returns and are willing to accept high risk to achieve that goal. The underlyings are currently made up of assets in the subfund Pioneer Multibrand - Global Progressive. This fund primarily invests in selected equity funds offered by top, globally recognised asset management companies such as Franklin Templeton, Fortis, Morgan Stanley, etc. Many of these funds have previously been unavailable for normal investors in the Czech Republic.
UL Emerging Market Bonds
UL Emerging Market Bonds can be categorised as a fund for clients looking for investment opportunities slightly off the beaten track. The underlyings are made up of assets in the subfund Credit Suisse Bond Fund (Lux) Emerging Markets. This fund is currently being run by one of the most successful long-term portfolio managers in this sector - Raphael Kassin.
UL Equity Global
From June the underlyings in this fund are made up of assets in the subfund Credit Suisse MultiFund (Lux) Equity Global Constellation, which hunts out the best equity funds, ignoring any geographical focus.
