Canada: Aviva announces senior executive realignment

Today, Robin Spencer, president and CEO, Aviva Canada Inc announced important changes to the structure of Aviva's senior executive team.

Today, Robin Spencer, president and CEO, Aviva Canada Inc announced important changes to the structure of Aviva's senior executive team.

"These organizational changes will strengthen and expand our executive leadership's capacity to drive growth and serve our brokers and customers better," Mr Spencer said. "The changes increase our capacity and capability to further assert ourselves as an industry leader."

The changes, which take effect on 4 February 2008, will create or expand centres of excellence that will help the organization realize the full power of the Aviva family of brands. These centres of excellence include the areas of pricing, underwriting, marketing and communications, government relations and procurement.

"We are going to lead the market by delivering a consistently great experience to brokers and customers, and ultimately change the way people think about insurance," Mr Spencer added.

Mr Spencer announced the following changes to Aviva Canada's executive members' responsibilities:

Ross Betteridge - EVP & COO, Corporate Partnerships & Emerging Markets. Mr Betteridge will continue in his role with increased capacity to lead and execute long-term business strategies to grow our Corporate Partnerships portfolio, lead our broker service operations, and seize opportunities for entry into emerging markets.

Bob Fitzgerald - EVP, Chief Marketing & Underwriting Officer. Mr Fitzgerald will move into this newly created EVP role with responsibility for a Central Marketing Team, Pricing, Personal Lines Underwriting, National Commercial Lines, Brand and Customer Experience, Government Relations, Corporate Communications encompassing Internal/External Communications, Media and Public Relations.

Greg Somerville - EVP & COO - Aviva Insurance. Mr Somerville will move into a P&L role and will be responsible for delivering the strategies and business plans of the Aviva Commercial and Surety business across Canada together with the Aviva personal lines business in Quebec, the Atlantic and the West. Mr Somerville will also retain responsibility for reinsurance for the foreseeable future.

Maurice Tulloch - EVP & COO - Pilot, Traders, Elite, Scottish & York; President, Pilot Insurance Company. To further strengthen our market-leading position through Pilot Insurance Company, we are bringing together all Ontario broker personal lines businesses under Mr Tulloch's leadership, as well as Traders and Elite responsibility across Canada. He will be responsible for delivering the strategies and business plans of the Pilot, Traders, Elite, Scottish & York businesses. Mr Tulloch's focus will be to drive the profitable growth and operational efficiency of these businesses across Canada.

The executive roles of the remaining members of Aviva Canada's executive team, Andrea Bodnar, Jim Falle and Helen Bozinovski remain unchanged.
