Working with First Bike on Scene (FBoS), BSM Motorcycle Training is now the first training scheme to provide all instructors with emergency aid training.
Mike Loydall, head of BSM's motorcycle training division, felt that first aid should be part of the team's skills set, even though it isn't a necessary requirement for motorcycle instructors.
"We see very few incidents during training courses, and even fewer which require any form of first aid attention. However, we felt it was responsible to ensure that our team of instructors had these basic skills. After all, our instructors are on the road day in day out so the likelihood of them coming across an incident involving other road users is probably greater than most riders."
Sharron Hogan, responsible for the development of the FBoS course said: "Because the FBoS course is practical and hands on, it is ideal for BSM. The courses were a great success and the BSM team seemed to enjoy learning these vital skills."
