As of 31 October 2007 AvivaSA Emeklilik ve Hayat, the first merger in the personal pension system in Turkey to adopt the principle of equal partnership, has officially assumed the mantle of leadership in the individual pension and life insurance sector. In an advertising campaign that began at the start of the week, AvivaSA's birth is symbolised by daybreak in four different regions of Turkey.
The Treasury Undersecretariat has given the go-ahead for the creation of AvivaSA Emeklilik ve Hayat AŞ, the product of a merger between AK Emeklilik AŞ, in which Sabancı Holding subsidiary Aksigorta has a 99.4% stake, and British insurance giant Aviva plc. AvivaSA Emeklilik ve Hayat, the first merger in the personal pension system in Turkey to adopt the principle of equal partnership, took its place at the very outset as leading company in the individual pension sector with its 25% market share. The company is ranked number three in the life insurance sector, where it has an 11% market share.
AvivaSA's board of directors has been appointed, and it held its first general meeting following Undersecretariat approval on 31 October 2007. Akın Kozanoğlu is acting as board chair, Pierre-Olivier Bouée as board vice-chair, and Carl Owen Boehr, Ertan Fırat, Turgay Özbek and Ragıp Yergin as board members. Meral Egemen, who formerly held the post of AK Emeklilik's managing director, has become AvivaSA's managing director. Meral Egemen at the same time sits on the board of directors as seventh member.
An advertising campaign has begun to appear in the print and visual media symbolising the strong position and rebirth of AvivaSA Emeklilik ve Hayat, with its new logo. In the advertising campaign, which emphasises AvivaSA's large customer base, fund size, centuries-long experience and leadership, daybreak in Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir and Nemrut represents AvivaSA's birth. The footage shot in four different regions symbolises the extensive nature of the company's distribution network.
