Three policies offered by Commercial Union (CU) Poland General Insurance company meet the needs of the most demanding customers - "Locum Residence" house and apartment insurance, "VIP" personal accident insurance and "Travelling companion" annual travel insurance.
Locum Residence - even insures the family silver
In 2006, 22% of new house insurance premium written by Commercial Union were from customers choosing a Locum Residence policy. This offers a wide range of protection, the highest insurer's claim limits and very efficient settlement of damages. "This is linked to the increasing wealth of society and the rapid increase in property prices, which raises the insured value needed to fully protect the property," says Robert Szyszka, personal lines director at CU Poland General Insurance.
The policy's cover includes standard risks with high CU claim limits as well as a range of additional possibilities adjusted to the needs of customers with significant wealth.
"Insurance of property against fire and other accidents, for instance, damage caused by voltage surge, even damage to electronic equipment, household appliances or installations due to excessive voltage in the electricity network, even if linked to atmospheric discharge," explains Robert Szyszka.
Private property can also be insured against robbery, burglary and devastation (as a result of break-in or vandalism). "We serve some customers who insure family heirlooms valued in millions Polish zloties," ays Robert Szyszka.
The "standard" civil liability insurance can be expanded to cover the territory of Europe or the world, or it can be reduced in order not to duplicate any civil liability insurance already held by a tenant. Each Locum Residence policy includes - at no extra cost - home and medical assistance services, thanks to which the insured can rely on rapid assistance in stressful situations (breakdown, accident).
VIP personal accident insurance - 1 million zloties against the effects of an accident
This policy offers the highest insured sum of personal accident policies available in Poland - up to 1 million zloty. "More and more wealthy customers including company owners, managers, lawyers or doctors are taking the danger of possible accidents very seriously. The number of policies of this kind in our portfolio increased by almost 50% in 2006 compared to the previous year," says Robert Szyszka.
The basic policy covers accidental death of the insured person. However the insured can, according to their own needs, expand the scope of the policy with a range of options such as permanent inability to work, hospital stay, treatment costs, physiotherapy costs (cover up to 50,000 zloty) and even the cost of plastic surgery.
"Our VIP personal accident insurance policy is an ideal supplement to life insurance, particularly for very busy people, because there is no obligation to go through a specialist medical examination - just to complete the medical questionnaire," adds Robert Szyszka.
Travelling companion - formalities only once but lots of travel
This is convenient and competitive annual travel insurance for people who travel abroad many times a year on business or privately. The customer has a choice of two packages - covering just Europe and the Mediterranean or the whole world. Each package can have one of two options (lower or higher - eg €20,000 or €30,000 claim limit for treatment costs and assistance).
Travelling companion covers the cost of treatment abroad, including medical consultations, out-patient's clinics and hospital treatment and the costs of transport to a medical base eg from the location of an accident. The package also includes insurance of luggage, civil liability insurance and assistance services. Customers can expand the policy to add personal accident insurance covering accidents occurring abroad.
Customers receive a plastic identification card with the phone number of the emergency centre, where they can call for help. Almost 8,000 Commercial Union customers using our Travelling companion policy have such cards in their wallets.
"The Travelling companion policy frees the customer from the need to purchase insurance for each trip and from completion of all related formalities. This makes life easier for busy people as well as for companies that often send their employees abroad," emphasises Robert Szyszka.
Commercial Union Poland General Insurance company specialises in commercial lines insurance (for companies and institutions) and in personal lines products. Small and medium sized businesses are offered the business partner policy.
Towards the end of this year Commercial Union will offer its customers motor insurance sold direct - that is by telephone or internet.
