Team RAC driver Colin Turkington was in Covent Garden, central London, this week to spread the British Touring Car Championship message ahead of the penultimate round of the season at Brands Hatch this weekend.

He was present along with the Team RAC show car to provide an insight into Team RAC and showcase the biggest motor sport championship in the country to the hundreds of people who were in the area.

The public were able to meet Colin, race in the Team RAC show car and receive various RAC giveaways throughout the day.

Colin continues his bid to become the youngest ever BTCC champion at 24 years of age this weekend, and despite trailing championship leader Matt Neal by 53 points in second place, is determined to keep on fighting.

Colin Turkington said: "I won't give up my dreams of becoming champion until it is no longer mathematically possible to catch Matt. I'm happy with the way I have pushed Matt all year long as this is his fifteenth year and my fifth series. Realistically it needs Matt to have some bad luck to enable me to be in with a shout, but by no means have I given up the fight - I won't make it easy for him.

"It was great to come to London for such an event this week and promote the great work that Team RAC have done this season. The more people that become aware of our team and sport the better, and activities such as this really help spread the word."

Shaun Meadows, RAC marketing director, said: "RAC have really enjoyed our season as sponsors of Team RAC and also our success on the track. We want to promote this and involve as many people as possible in our sponsorship, so events such as this enable us to do just that. This weekend promises to be another fantastic spectacle and hopefully our activity this week will see a few more people deciding to go along after meeting Colin and seeing what Team RAC is all about."

Aviva announced its acquisition of RAC in 2005. The acquisition brings together RAC's powerful brand and customer base with the expertise and leading position in motor insurance of Norwich Union Insurance (part of Aviva).
