Hibernian announces that Stuart Purdy has taken up his role as deputy chief executive of Hibernian in Ireland. Stuart was previously managing director of Aviva India. He will initially assume responsibility for the Hibernian Life and Ark Life businesses.
Bryan Jenkins, Hibernian chief executive officer, said: “Stuart’s track record in the life business, both broker and bancassurance, brings a strong new skill set and a wealth of experience to Hibernian and I’m delighted he has joined the Irish team. The success of Aviva India, which has grown to become one of the fastest growing companies in that market over the last six years is testament to his leadership and vision.”
Commenting on his new role, Stuart Purdy said: "It is an exciting time to be joining Hibernian. The general insurance business is thriving and in life and pensions, the opportunity created by the joint venture with AIB last year, opens new prospects for the Hibernian Life and Ark Life businesses. Together with my management colleagues, I am looking forward to meeting the challenges and opportunities ahead to build on Hibernian’s market position.
"My initial focus is on the life businesses where excellent work has been achieved in the last nine months, integrating the Ark and Hibernian life operations. A solid foundation for growth has been set. The focus for this business now shifts to maximising the potential of both distribution channels through providing AIB and the broker market with innovative products and quality service.
"Looking to the future, the opportunities for Hibernian are very positive and with strong backing from our parent Aviva, Hibernian is well positioned to meet its ambitious growth targets.”
