UK: New underwriting roles within personal lines regions for Norwich Union

Norwich Union has created the new role of personal lines underwriting consultant within its intermediary business, personal lines regional offices.

Four new consultants will operate in Leeds, Norwich and Birmingham with responsibility for the management and development of underwriting capability within their teams. They will work closely with the newly appointed personal lines specialist account managers to develop the personal lines broker business.

Karen Felton, academy manager for Norwich Union, says: “Our brokers tell us that they want access to knowledgeable staff who can make underwriting decisions. Norwich Union is committed to developing our broker business and relationships in the personal lines market and the creation of this role demonstrates our commitment to provide a first class service. We are also promoting closer working with commercial underwriters to give a greater focus on the customer.”

The personal lines underwriting consultants have been recruited from existing staff and the recruitment process included an assessment of their technical knowledge as well as skills and behaviours, to ensure that the right people for the roles have been identified. They will work with the academy and underwriting teams to create an ongoing development programme that ensures their underwriting capability, and that of their teams, meets the needs of Norwich Union’s customers.
