RAC, "the people behind the people behind the wheel", have unveiled details of their presence and visitor attractions at this week's British International Motor Show at ExCeL, London (20-30 July).

Team RAC driver Rob Collard, who competes in the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship, will be attending on press day (Tuesday 18 July) along with his full specification Team RAC race car, which will be on the RAC stand for visitors to see up close throughout the show.

Rob will also be demonstrating RAC Invisishield, a new in-car security system. Home Office statistics show that more than eight out of ten cars are now driven away using the owner's keys so Invisishield goes beyond a car's built-in immobiliser and alarm by preventing the engine from starting even when a thief has stolen the keys.

A tiny transponder is installed in a secret location of the driver's choice within easy reach of the driver's seat. This prevents the engine from starting until the driver holds their unique Invisishield fob next to it for a couple of seconds. RAC Invisishield costs just Ł249 and is fitted to RAC's liveried Smart car which will be on the stand.

Visitors will also be able to go "head to head" and test their driving skills against Rob on the latest PlayStation game on the RAC stand, where he will set a benchmark lap time.

BSM will be present and supplying interactive demonstrations and a live demonstrator as used in training centres. Visitors will be able to drive around a circuit and be tested live on the stand, along with taking part in a competition to win a Vauxhall Corsa.

Auto Windscreens will be providing live demonstrations of roadside windscreen repairs on the stand, whilst visitors can keep up to speed on the latest traffic problems and best routes home with the live Traffic Master facility which will be available.

All visitors to the stand will also be able to take part in a free prize draw with one lucky winner receiving a VIP trip to the 2007 Monaco Grand Prix including flights and accommodation.

Shaun Meadows, marketing director at RAC, said: "RAC are really looking forward to The British International Motor Show and we're sure visitors will enjoy what we have to offer. It is the largest motoring consumer event of the year and allows us the opportunity to illustrate RAC's skill and expertise to everyone in attendance.

"We are delighted Rob Collard is able to attend and showcase our sponsorship of Team RAC, whilst RAC Invisishield is an exciting new product that will provide extra security for drivers by reducing car thefts."

The RAC stand number is N29 and is located in the North Hall at ExCeL.

About RAC
With around seven million members, RAC is one of the UK's most progressive motoring organizations, providing services for both private and business motorists. Whether it's roadside assistance, windscreen repair and replacement, learning to drive, vehicle inspections and checks, legal and financial services or up-to-the-minute traffic and travel information - RAC is able to meet motorists' needs. RAC incorporates BSM, RAC Auto Windscreens, RAC Direct Insurance and HPI.

Aviva bought RAC last year. The acquisition brings together RAC's powerful brand and customer base with the expertise and leading position in motor insurance of Norwich Union Insurance (part of Aviva). Norwich Union is the UK's largest insurer, insuring one-in-seven motor vehicles and with a market share of around 14%.
