Kidderminster RAC lead patrol Stewart Barnett has reached the final round of a closely fought national competition to find this year’s RAC Ambassador of the Year.

The Ambassador of the Year title is awarded to the RAC patrol that has demonstrated not just outstanding technical and mechanical expertise, but also the highest levels of customer awareness and service – often in fraught and even dangerous situations at the roadside.

Following every breakdown customers are given the opportunity to rate the quality of service provided by the patrol allowing motoring organisation RAC to assess each patrol’s performance both accurately and objectively.

Stewart, 42, from Kidderminster, looks after members in the Worcestershire and the Severn Valley area. He has been an RAC patrol for an outstanding 17 years and loves the freedom the job brings. As well as looking after members, as a lead patrol Stewart is also responsible for a ten-strong team of patrols in the area.

Lance Armstrong is the famous person Stewart would most like to rescue and says a Range Rover Vogue is the car he’d most like to own.

In his spare time Stewart is a competitive sportsman. He is captain of his local boat club and he has taken part in the Henley Royal Regatta. He has also raised money for charity by running the London Marathon and taking part in sponsored boat rows for Leukemia Research.

Stewart will be attending a glittering awards ceremony along with the other top performing patrols* and customer service staff on Saturday 25 February where the Ambassador of the Year will be announced. This is the third time that Stewart has been in the running for this prestigious award.

“RAC patrols take great pride in the service they provide to our customers at the roadside – a service we believe is second to none,” said RAC Rescue director Debbie Hewitt. “Stewart’s high standards are a credit to the RAC”.
