Aviva Canada is pleased to announce that it has entered a joint agreement with OnX Enterprise Solutions, a leading Internet solution provider, to help small business owners protect the critical business data stored on their PCs.

Aviva Canada will promote OnX’s Distributed Data Protection (DDP) service - a PC data back-up and recovery service - through its existing network of independent insurance brokers.

The DDP will be available to both new and existing small business insurance customers and will provide an easy yet safe way to automatically save important PC data to a secure server. In the event of data loss, customers can easily recover their protected data online, whenever and wherever they choose to do so.

“As one of Canada’s leading property & casualty insurance companies, we are constantly seeking ways to provide innovative solutions to customers and help them manage their exposure to risk. By offering an easy to use, automatic data protection service, we’re ensuring our customers have access to better protection for their business,” says Paul Fletcher, senior vice-president, marketing, Aviva Insurance Company.

Recent studies have shown that almost 60% of business related data resides unprotected on company desktops and laptops and could easily be lost as a result of malicious virus infections, theft, equipment failure or human error.

“The best way to protect your critical business data is to find an automatic and cost effective method to back-up your important PC data. You need back-ups that don’t impact the productivity of the PC owner or depend on fallible human action. What we are offering here is a simple and reliable way to retrieve the data whenever and wherever you like,“ says Phil DeLeon, president, OnX Enterprise Solutions.

This innovative program is currently being promoted through a select number of Aviva’s brokers across the country as the first phase of a Canada-wide rollout planned for Fall 2004. Aviva Canada Inc plans to make this service available to all of Canada’s small business owners, and not exclusively to Aviva’s insureds. Because Aviva wants everyone to have an opportunity to enjoy this value-added, cost-effective way to avoid data and information loss – a potentially business damaging risk.
