Ian Beggs has been appointed head of external relations for Norwich Union’s life business, based in York.
He will be responsible for leading the organisation’s extensive programme of public affairs, including responses to Government consultations.
Currently media relations manager within Norwich Union Life, Ian joined Norwich Union from HBOS in February 2002, where he held the position of senior press officer. Since then, he has worked closely with all parts of Norwich Union Life on a range of communications issues, including those relating to major regulatory change.
Ian will take up his new role from Monday 13 October, replacing Rob Davies who leaves Norwich Union at the end of October. A replacement for the media relations team is currently being recruited.

The external relations team has a pivotal role to play in helping the organisation inform opinion and influence decision-making for the better.
