The Duke of Edinburgh waved off a Norwich Union-insured London black cab last week, as it left Buckingham Palace for a four-month journey around the world to raise money for sight-saving charity, ORBIS.

The "Drive the World" team - Jeremy Levine of First National Motor Finance, Preston, Mark Aylett, an English graduate from Swanley, Kent, and James Burke of Economy Cars in Barnsley - plan to raise Ł10,000 by beating the world record for circumnavigation by car. The current record of 21 days, two hours and 14 minutes was set by a British team in December 1997.

Norwich Union is sponsoring the Metrocab on its European sector (approximately 5,000 miles) and the Middle Eastern sector, through specialist taxi broker Cabsurance Direct.
