UK: Aviva UK Insurance announcement

Aviva is announcing some senior management changes in its UK business following the recent announcement to bring together the General Insurance, Health and Life businesses under the leadership of Andy Briggs.

Aviva’s ambition for UK Insurance is to give customers an excellent experience with more focus on the changing ways that customers choose to buy products with a focus on digital. To accelerate this strategy for growth we are bringing together some key areas of our business. As the UK’s largest insurer – offering the widest range of insurance products - Aviva has a unique opportunity to grow in the UK.

UK Insurance Senior management appointments (effective from Q2 and subject to regulatory approval)

  • Colm Holmes, UKGI CEO will continue to lead our General Insurance business. Colm will also lead Global Corporate and Specialty Risk.
  • Rob Townend currently Claims Director for UKGI, will continue to run GI claims, reporting into Colm. Claims are a fundamental moment of truth for customers, and Rob will also lead on best practice across the UK.
  • Lindsey Rix, currently MD of Personal Lines UKGI will lead Savings and Retirement, covering our platform business, annuities, and equity release with a global best practice remit. Clive Bolton, currently MD Savings and Retirement has decided that now is the right time to leave the business after 25 years service. David Still will run our Heritage business focusing on customers who have our older life products which are now closed to new business, reporting to Lindsey.
  • Mark Noble, currently MD of UK Health will lead Health and Protection, to develop customer propositions focused on wellness through to the insurance needed when customers fall ill. Mark will also focus on best practice across our health and protection businesses across the Group.

To ensure we remain close to our customers and partners and serve them effectively across General Insurance, Health and Life insurance, there are also a number of appointments relating to key customer segments:

  • Corporate - Andy Curran, currently MD Corporate Business Solutions will lead our Corporate team. Andy’s area will be largely unchanged, and his role will expand to include Corporates, SMEs, and their advisors, across the composite, covering Life Insurance, GI and Health.
  • Strategic Partners - Rob Barker will continue to lead Strategic Partners, including IFAs, and his role includes customer propositions and pricing.
  • Intermediaries - Phil Bayles, current Chief Distribution Officer for UKGI, will continue to lead on intermediaries that focus primarily on General Insurance.
  • Digital - Blair Turnbull, MD UK Digital and the team will collaborate with UK Insurance to lead on Aviva’s retail direct-to-consumer segment.
