Aviva UK General Insurance (UK GI) today announces the appointment of Patrick Tiernan as Chief Financial Officer, subject to regulatory approval.
Patrick, who joins Aviva from Starstone Insurance where he was Group Chief Operating Officer, replaces Colm Holmes after he was appointed Chief Executive Officer for UK GI in June 2016.

About Patrick Tiernan
- Patrick has held the role of Group Chief Operating Officer at Starstone Insurance since 2014.
- He has 16 years of experience in the insurance industry, spending the last 10 years at Zurich Insurance Group where he most recently served as Chief Executive Officer of Zurich’s Centrally Managed Businesses.
- Patrick qualified as a chartered accountant with E&Y’s London insurance practice in 2000 and subsequently spent 3 years working for the liquidator of the HIH Insurance estate in Sydney.
- Patrick holds a degree in Business and Law from University College Dublin.
