Aviva, the leading European life insurance and pensions group, announces the appointment of Luis Mañas as independent advisor and chairman of the Risk and Investment Committee of Aviva in Spain.
Luis Mañas is a director of Tubos Reunidos and a member of the Executive Committee, and also works for a number of unlisted companies. Since 2006 he has managed various companies in the Arbitrage group, which focus on fund management as well as consulting and advice in the fields of finance and energy. He has also advised the Mexican government on the reform of the energy sector since 2007.
He spent almost 20 years of his professional career at Repsol (1987-2006), where he held posts such as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and member of the Executive Board of Repsol YPF. Prior to that, he worked as an economist in Washington at the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank, as well as the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Finance. He was a professor of Economics at the Universities of Chicago and Complutense in Madrid, as well as at the CEMFI (Bank of Spain).
