Aviva climbs 12 places in the Stonewall Workplace Equality Index

Aviva jumped 12 places to 42 in the seventh annual Stonewall Workplace Equality Index and is in the top 10 private sector companies in the index

Aviva jumped 12 places to 42 in the seventh annual Stonewall Workplace Equality Index and is in the top 10 private sector companies in the index. The index showcases the top 100 British employers for lesbian, gay and bisexual (LGB) employees. We also received a Star Performing Network Award for the second year recognising the activities of our employee network group as an example of best practice.

The Stonewall Equality Index is the leading measure of diversity practices, with a specific focus on LGB employees. This year 378 leading employers – from all over Britain and 25 industries – entered the Index, making it the most competitive to date.

Amanda Mackenzie, chief marketing officer and Aviva Pride executive sponsor said: “This achievement says so much about how we’re living our employee promise - ‘I am recognised for who I am’ - at Aviva. I can’t stress enough how important it is that we create an environment where everyone can be comfortable at work.”

Paul Wood, chief security officer and co-chair of Aviva Pride said “The network has only been in place for a short time and to have jumped over 40 places in the last two years shows how much can be achieved in a short time. The structure of the index creates a simple framework which we use to help us plan our activities in a way that will really make a difference to our LGB employees.”
