UK: Aviva appoints chief underwriter

Aviva has appointed Robert Morrison as chief underwriter. He joins Aviva after seven years at IFA protection specialist Bright Grey, where he was head of underwriting and claims. Before that he spent nine years with Abbey National Life.

Aviva has appointed Robert Morrison as chief underwriter. He joins Aviva after seven years at IFA protection specialist Bright Grey, where he was head of underwriting and claims. Before that he spent nine years with Abbey National Life. 

Robert Morrison is a member of the Association of British Insurers’ Medical Underwriting Committee and Financial Ombudsman Liaison group, and will start his new role on 8 November 2010.

Richard Verdin, director of protection at Aviva, said: “I am delighted that Robert will be joining my team. He brings 23 years of underwriting experience to Aviva’s protection team and, having worked in IFA, bank and direct channels, his appointment will prove invaluable in meeting our goal of becoming the UK's most recommended provider in the protection market".
