Aviva will contribute to Constructor de Futuro, the building for the future project, through its involvement in corporate volunteering in Spain.

Aviva, a leading provider of life insurance and pensions in Europe, has signed an agreement with Aldeas Infantiles SOS, the Spanish division of SOS Children’s Villages, the international private children’s organisation, to join them as a Constructor de Futuro (future builder) and to participate in corporate voluntary work.

Aldeas Infantiles SOS business platform will allow Aviva to develop part of its social actions in areas involving children and young people in vulnerable situations. The aim of this partnership is to encourage the development and independence of these children, by providing temporary care, preventing cruelty and abuse, and strengthening family and social networks.

Under the banner Constructor de Futuro, specifically created for major corporations, Aviva will contribute to the upkeep of one of the eight Aldeas Infantiles SOS children’s villages in Spain. In addition, some of the resources provided by Aviva may be channelled into any of its other 90 SOS programmes or centres for prevention, social integration or incorporation into the workplace that the NGO has throughout Spain.

The agreement also covers another form of collaboration, corporate volunteering, which aims to use the talents of Aviva’s workforce for social development.

Ignacio Izquierdo, Aviva’s CEO in Spain said: “We are particularly pleased to extend Aviva’s social efforts by joining this project to help children. Aldeas Infantiles SOS began over 60 years ago, and now provides shelter for over 450,000 children and young people all over the world, including 3,500 in Spain.”

He also added that: “We think the work they do is admirable, particularly because of the improvements that Aldeas Infantiles SOS makes to the future of these children, and to society as a whole.”

According to Juan Belda, president of Aldeas Infantiles SOS Spain: "Every year 10 million children worldwide die because of a failure to provide family care. In Spain, some 500,000 children need social assistance and every year 40,000 are admitted to hospital as a result of abuse. Bringing this reality to people’s attention, and providing companies and society as a whole with concrete projects to help vulnerable children and young people, is our reason for being.”

He added that “we are delighted to welcome Aviva to our project and we are sure that we will achieve great things together, because it is a company that shares our vision of preparing a better future than the present.”
