The Aviva insurance group declared 2 June 2009 to be a day of celebrations for its global rebranding – Becoming One Aviva Day. The companies making up the Aviva Group moved to a single brand name this year, replacing their original names. The main companies concerned were Norwich Union in Great Britain, Hibernian in Ireland and Commercial Union in Poland.
In the Czech Republic Aviva has been operating under that name since 2003. To mark the day the company not only organised internal events but also an afternoon at Prague Zoo for special needs nursery school children.
The 24 hour schedule for Becoming One Aviva Day kicked off in Melbourne in Australia and finished with a flourish in Iowa in the USA. Over the course of the day, dubbed “Follow the Sun” within Aviva, all the employees at this global group were given the opportunity to meet senior management, either in person or virtually, take part in intranet discussions and to get involved in local CSR activities.
Representatives of Aviva životní pojišťovna in the Czech Republic opted for direct support of special needs children as part of their CSR activities. On 2 June Aviva organised a fun afternoon at Prague Zoo for children from the Drahaňská Nursery School in Prague.
“There is a long tradition of CSR activities focusing on children in the Aviva Group. We dedicated the afternoon of Aviva Day to children and we also celebrated International Children’s Day with them,” said Milan Starý, marketing director of Aviva životní pojišťovna, after the event.
Aviva, an insurance group founded more than 300 years ago which operates in 28 countries around the world, started its global rebranding at the beginning of January 2009. The rebranding was backed up by creative advertising campaigns in the various countries. In the advertising campaign in Britain, where it is the largest insurer on the market, Aviva underlined the link between the company and a number of celebrities who also changed their names upon entering the world of show-business, such as Bruce Willis or Ringo Starr.
