Olympic sailor Pieter-Jan Postma awarded the prizes today in the "Paper Boat" competition. Delta Lloyd received a total of some 250 entries, including a number of really creative prototypes. The most original entries are currently on display in the Mondriaan Tower in Amsterdam.

A Kid's Dream
Delta Lloyd is sponsoring Team Delta Lloyd in the Volvo Ocean Race and so in October the advertisement "A Kid's Dream" was placed in a number of national newspapers. It encouraged children to fold up the advertisement and create a paper boat, think up a great name for it and send it off to Delta Lloyd. The prize on offer was an Optimist (a one-man junior sailing boat), each inscribed with the name thought up by the winner.
Pieter-Jan Postma (a Finn class yachtsman who took part in the Beijing Olympics in 2008, Dutch Laser class champion in 2004 and Finn class Dutch Open Champion in 2006) announced the winners of the three Optimists:
- Tommy van Thiel, aged 10, "Wintvast"
- Simon Davidse, aged 10, "Mijn Papieremachochel"
- Bob de Winter, aged 9, "Bobtimist"
