Aymeric Oudin has been appointed secretary general of Aviva France, with effect from 17 November 2008. As a member of the executive committee, he will oversee the following functions, reporting to the board of directors: governance, legal affairs, organisation, information systems and logistics, security and purchasing. More specifically, he will be in charge of coordinating and implementing the "One Aviva, twice the value" vision and of its European arm.
Aymeric Oudin, who is 39 years old, holds degrees from the Ecole Polytechnique, the Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées and the IEP Paris and is an actuary.
A "Commissaire Contrôleur des Assurances", Aymeric Oudin held various posts between 1996 and 2003 at the Inspectorate General of Finances, the Commission de Contrôle des Assurances (French insurance oversight agency), then with the Directorate of the Treasury as head of the Insurance Products and Markets bureau. Here he played a major role in adapting French and European regulations to the insurance markets.
Aymeric Oudin joined the Scor Group in February 2003 as special adviser to the new chairman and was appointed director for planning, budgets and results in 2004, before becoming the deputy finance director of the group.
With effect from 17 November 2008, Aviva France's executive committee will also be joined by Nicolas Schimel, who has been director general of the Union Financière de France Bank, of which Aviva France is the major shareholder, since 1 October this year.
Nicolas Schimel is 43 years old and holds degrees from the Ecole Polytechnique, the ENSAE and the IEP Paris. He is also a qualified IAF actuary and alumnus of Stanford Business School.
Having joined the Life Insurance Administrative Department of AGF in June 1989, Nicolas Schimel became deputy director and then director of sales in the Employees division of the company in June 1995. In September 2002, he was appointed director of the "AGF General Agents" division and became a member of the group board of AGF. In October 2004, he joined the Generali France Group as deputy director general and commercial director of Generali Assurances and later of Generali Conseils. A member of the executive committee and later of the steering committee of Generali France, he oversaw the agent and broker distribution networks until December 2007.
Jean-Pierre Menanteau said: "With his in-depth experience of the insurance sector, his experience of situations of change and development, his values and his passion for teamwork, Aymeric Oudin has all the qualities needed to be a most useful addition to Aviva France's leadership team in a demanding environment and an increasingly European framework of activity. And as for Nicolas Schimel, quite apart from his vast experience of distribution issues in the insurance sector, I am delighted that Union financière de France, which is part of the wider Aviva France family, is to be represented by him at group level in full respect of the identity of UFF and of its shareholders."
