Sponsorship schemes in Great Britain
In Great Britain Aviva (Norwich Union) supports the staging of athletics championships.
In 2001 Norwich Union announced a five-year sponsorship partnership with the Athletics Federation worth £20 million. In 2001 this was one of the largest events on the British sporting scene. But in April 2006, Norwich Union announced an arrangement of even greater proportions, committing itself to donating 50 million pounds sterling to the Athletics Federation between then and 2012, thus supporting over 10 million children. This represents the largest sponsorship deal on the British sporting scene, excluding football.
The Aviva Pelendava Cup
The Aviva Pelendava Cup is a national aerobic gymnastics competition which took place in Craiova in May 2007 and was supported by Aviva Life Insurance as official sponsor. It is the second year running in which Aviva has sponsored this competition, specifically because we are convinced of the importance of sport to the positive development of young people.
