Julie Thompson of Kialla in Victoria is planning for the trip of a lifetime after winning Aviva's "Win a Trip to Wimbledon" competition conducted during the Australian Open.
Proud sponsor of the Aviva Ballkids, Aviva is helping young people get involved in tennis right around the country, with representation at not only the Australian Open but also Sydney's Medibank International, the Gold Coast's Mondial Australian Women's Hardcourts, the Next Generation Adelaide International, and the Moorilla Hobart International.
More than 27,000 tennis fans entered Aviva's competition all hoping to win the fantastic prize which includes return tickets to London, accommodation, transfers and tickets to the centre court finals with exclusive access to the VIP hospitality area.
Over the moon, delighted, thrilled and excited are just a few of the emotions Julie felt when notified of her win.
"I couldn't believe it was happening and I thought it was a bit of a joke - I think I even pinched myself to make sure it actually was happening," laughs Julie. "Nothing like this has ever happened to me and I can't believe the first thing I have ever won is an amazing prize like this."
To enter the competition, tennis fans filled in the entry form at Aviva's marquee at Melbourne Park during the recent Australian Open, or online at www.avivaballkids.com.au.
"This prize is fantastic because I simply love tennis. Each year, my sister and I attend one day of the Australian Open and of course this year I visited the Aviva marquee, entered the competition and won the ultimate prize," said Julie.
Julie will take her tennis fan sister with her to Wimbledon and they are planning to make the most of their trip during the European summer.
Aviva Australia's group director product, marketing and public relations, Rob Donaghy congratulated Julie on her win and said he was very pleased such an enthusiastic tennis fan had won the competition.
"Aviva now sponsors the ballkids at most of the major tennis tournaments around the country. It's great to see how many tennis visitors are taking the time to find out more about Aviva and the Aviva Ballkids, and of course fill in an entry form for this exciting competition," said Rob.
Applications for Aviva Ballkids for the Australian Open 2008 will open from 5 March to 16 March 2007 via the Australian Open website, www.AustralianOpen.com under "Staff Information". Further information on the sponsorship can also be accessed at www.avivaballkids.com.au.
