Norwich Union Healthcare announced details today of how its dedicated and comprehensive cancer claims service has got even bigger and better and will be available to all of its customers.
The specialist oncology unit is designed to treat customers sensitively using dedicated and specially trained staff who can provide access to a range of information services, as well as working closely with doctors and hospitals.
Customers using the service will be allocated a personal case handler who will support them throughout their claim. This allows the team to develop a deep understanding of customers and their needs as well as developing a special relationship with them at a very difficult time.
The team also works in partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support and advises customers of the wide range of services the charity provides to people affected by cancer.
Norwich Union Healthcare has also donated Ł30,000 to Macmillan Cancer Support. This donation will help fund a Macmillan nurse and consultant for teenagers and young adults based at the Southampton General Hospital. Norwich Union Healthcare previously helped to fund the building of a Macmillan Support and Information Centre at the hospital, which continues to make a real difference to the lives of people affected by cancer.
The pilot team of eight has already produced superb results in terms of customer feedback and experience. Independent research has confirmed the benefits of this service and Norwich Union Healthcare has taken the step to expand the team to 22 which will include a range of highly experienced PMI claims professionals who have experience in oncology and general nursing.
Steve Moody, oncology claims manager, said: “We recognise the serious impact that a cancer diagnosis can have on someone’s life. For that reason, we created a dedicated Oncology Unit to provide support for our customers during the claims process. We are delighted that this team has now grown substantially and that we are able to offer this service to all our customers. We have added to the existing group of nurses and advisers to create a team with a vast wealth of knowledge and experience in managing cancer cases.”
Peter Cardy, chief executive Macmillan Cancer Support, said: “Macmillan Cancer Support improves the lives of people affected by cancer. We are delighted that Norwich Union Healthcare customers are being encouraged to access the practical, medical, emotional and financial support we provide.”
