Aviva Australia today released its second annual Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) report, detailing performance and governance practices across social, environmental and occupational health and safety (OHS) disciplines.

Aviva Australia today released its second annual Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) report, detailing performance and governance practices across social, environmental and occupational health and safety (OHS) disciplines.

Verified by the Monash Environmental Institute, the report compliments the global CSR report released by Aviva Australia’s parent company Aviva plc in May 2005. It is also in line with the global standards of reporting under the United Nations sponsored Global Reporting Initiative.

The CSR report is an accurate account of Aviva’s environmental, safety and social performances over 2004. It outlines policies and performance in occupational health and safety plus topical social agendas, along with realistic targets for 2005.

Rob Gill, project manager for CSR at Aviva Australia, says the report details Aviva’s areas of strength alongside those performances that can be improved upon.

"Accountability is a key issue for all our stakeholders at Aviva Australia. We recognise our business has direct and indirect impacts on the communities in which we operate. Aviva is working towards managing all these influences in a positive and responsible manner. We are committed to continuous improvement," said Mr Gill.

Aviva worldwide continues to address corporate responsibility. Aviva plc are proud to chair the UK forum of the United Nations Global Compact. Aviva plc is the only UK insurer to be included in both the Dow Jones Sustainability World and STOXX Indexes as well as a member of the FTSE4Good Index Series.
