Morley Fund Management has promoted Peter Michaelis to the position of head of socially responsible investment (SRI). Peter assumes overall responsibility for the nine-strong SRI team at Morley.
Peter joined Morley in December 2000 from Henderson Investors. He had spent a year at Henderson as an SRI fund manager having worked for British Steel as a senior environmental engineer after completing a PhD in Environmental Economics.
Peter’s promotion follows the decision by Clare Brook to step down as head of the SRI investment team to focus exclusively on business development for Morley’s SRI business.
Peter Michaelis, head of SRI at Morley Fund Management, said: "I’m delighted to be taking charge of one of the City’s leading SRI teams. We have a great track record in managing a broad range of SRI funds and there are fantastic opportunities to build on this to expand our funds under management."
Clare Brook, director of SRI at Morley, said: "We are seeing significant interest from pension funds, charities and unions in SRI investment and I’m looking forward to using my SRI investment background to help develop and advise on sustainable investment solutions."
Katherine Garrett-Cox, chief investment officer at Morley Fund Management, said: "We have two clear goals within our SRI team: delivering strong investment performance and growing our funds under management. With Peter focusing on fund management and investment style and Clare’s unrivalled experience in the industry spearheading our SRI business development, we are well placed to capitalise on the increasing number of SRI opportunities that we are seeing in the market."
Clare’s fund management responsibilities will be split in the following ways:
| Fund Name | Previous Fund Manager | New Fund Manager |
| Sustainable Future UK Growth | Clare Brook | Peter Michaelis |
| Sustainable Future Absolute Growth | Clare Brook | Paul Udall |
| Sustainable Future Managed | Clare Brook | Peter Michaelis |
| Sustainable Future Global Growth | Clare Brook | Paul Udall |
The following funds have no change in fund manager:
