Ontario Students Against Impaired Driving (OSAID) is proud to announce a major sponsorship from Aviva Canada. Aviva is the first corporate sponsor since OSAID's inception in 1987 to provide core funding to OSAID Inc. This funding will allow OSAID to maintain a full-time staff person to run the provincial office that manages 5,000 volunteers and 300 OSAID chapters in Ontario.

"The Aviva sponsorship will allow us to focus on our goal of recruiting members and give us the opportunity to produce quality programming and promotions," says Matt Evans, OSAID provincial coordinator. "In addition to the financial sponsorship Aviva will be an integral part of our organization, sitting on our Board, and offering advisory services as well."

OSAID reaches more than 300,000 students annually. Over the past decade more than 20,000 graduates of the program are now living, working, and driving in every community throughout Ontario. Every year OSAID's programming reaches beyond the school environment to positively influence more than half a million families.

This weekend over 300 students from across Ontario will attend the 19th annual OSAID Provincial leadership Conference in Oakville at Sheridan College. The conference is an intensive two-day program training young students on leadership skills, public speaking and awareness on the risks of impaired driving. The program empowers participants to take positive action in their schools and communities on preventing impaired driving. Highlight of the weekend is hypnotist Marc Savard, who recreates an impaired Driving crash on stage with hypnotized students.

"We are proud of our sponsorship of OSAID as a positive way of giving back to communities in Ontario," says Igal Mayer, president and CEO, Aviva Canada. "OSAID educates young adults about impaired driving and empowers them to take positive action with their peers. This is an important issue as impaired driving is still the number one killer of teens. At Aviva we take care of what is important to our customers and employees, and feel it is our responsibility to raise awareness and help educate Canadians on issues that help make their lives safer."

OSAID (www.osaid.org) manages over 300 OSAID chapters, 5000 volunteers (annually) utilizing 200,000 volunteer hours toward reducing driver-risk and injury in the province of Ontario. Each year, 5000 parents across the province watch their teenagers grow to become OSAID leaders in their respective communities. These leaders launch motivational and educational campaigns to promote a practical and responsible driver-safety message to a hard to reach audience - their peers.
