Australia: Senior appointments

Aviva today announced two senior appointments and the realignment of a number of business lines.

Aviva today announced two senior appointments and the realignment of a number of business lines.

The changes are in recognition of the close ties and relationships between departments and the need to ensure the whole business is concentrating on like issues.

Grant Salmon, formerly group general manager operations and information technology for Aviva, has been appointed chief operating officer.

Grant's expanded portfolio now includes overseeing the sales distribution team as well as the operational and information technology arms of the business.

Allan Griffiths, Aviva's chief executive officer, says the changes are planned to improve efficiencies and co-ordination within the company.

"These changes are about focussing the business on our customers - both financial advisers and the end client. In this case we see a direct link between IT which drives the capabilities of the Operations teams and the sales area which focuses the whole business on what clients need and want," said Allan.

Rob Donaghy has been appointed group director products, marketing and strategy for Aviva. He is also the appointed actuary. In his new role, Rob will concentrate on strategic product development and the marketing and distribution of those products.

"Again, this role is about bringing departments that focus on the same things together. Product delivery is essential for the business and it is important all teams are working towards the same goal - a market leading product designed with the customer in mind," said Allan.

Both Rob and Grant have extensive financial services experience and have been working with Aviva for a number of years, and are executive directors of various Aviva Australia boards.
