Morley Fund Management (Morley), one of the largest UK fund managers, has appointed Ronnie Lim as a Senior Analyst in the Socially Responsible Investment (SRI) Team. Ronnie joined on 3 March and will be responsible for analysing companies' social and environmental profiles and the extent to which they have an investment impact.
Ronnie has extensive experience in broking and has recently completed an MSc in Environmental Impact Assessment at the University of East Anglia, focusing on environmental economics and risk management.
Prior to this Ronnie was Director of Equity Sales for CLSA Global Emerging Markets in Singapore. He has also worked in sales for CLSA in Hong Kong and London and Cazenove & Co in London. Ronnie is a member of the Institute of Business Ethics and the UK Social Investment Forum.
Commenting on Ronnie's arrival, Clare Brook, Director of SRI at Morley Fund Management, said: "We are very pleased to welcome Ronnie into the SRI team at Morley. Morley's SRI Team
Led by Clare Brook, Morley's Socially Responsible Investment team is one of the largest and most experienced in the UK.
The team has grown in reputation and status, with members frequently asked for advice by companies, Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) and government departments. The team was involved with policy making for the new legislation that requires pension fund trustees to disclose their stance on social and environmental issues.
Having worked with investment consultants from around the world, the team has a global perspective and a global reputation. Its research efforts focus on the world-wide activities of the companies in which it invests. Members are regularly asked to speak at overseas conferences on SRI issues.
In 2001 Morley revised its Corporate Governance Voting Policy to vote against the report and accounts of UK companies which did not produce an environmental report.
In 2002 Morley published its 'Sustainability Matrix' which grades the FTSE 100 companies according to social, economic and environmental criteria. It also won the Sustainable and Ethical Investment and Asset Management Award at the Liveable City Awards 2002.
