Our people

Diversity and inclusion

We’re committed to making sure everyone at Aviva can be themselves. Only then can everyone do their best work.

Inclusion at Aviva

We have 31,700 people working in our offices from Norwich to Singapore. Every single one of us brings unique knowledge and experience, attitudes and ambitions. We want to celebrate this diversity. It's important to us that everyone is included.

What are we doing about it?

Inclusion is a long-term commitment. Change takes time, but we want to move faster to create a workplace that works for everyone.

We’re looking at all aspects of our business to make sure inclusion informs everything we do. We want to make it an integral part of how we treat our customers, clients and partners, as well as our people. It will underpin how we make business decisions and be part of how we aim to build stronger communities where we work.

In 2019, we set two global targets:

  • Increase the number of women in leadership roles* to 40% by 2021
  • Launch a strategy to increase the number of ethnic minority employees.

*Defined as Head of and above.

Aviva Communities

Aviva Communities, our global employee groups, are one of the ways we’re working to become more inclusive. They make sure everyone can have a voice and offer a place to share thoughts and experiences to:

  • Promote change, while building relationships with colleagues, leaders and partners
  • Help make sure our policies and approaches are consistent globally
  • Give our people a chance to develop and grow outside of their role.

Any of our people can join one or all of our Aviva Communities:

AvivAbility - supporting people with visible and invisible disabilities

Aviva Balance - for gender parity

Aviva Carers - helping carers and parents

Aviva Generations - for workers of all ages

Aviva Origins - celebrating cultural difference

Aviva Pride - being yourself at work, LGBT
