Aviva has announced Jan Gooding is to become Global Inclusion Director. This is the first time Aviva has appointed a director to lead the inclusion and diversity strategy across the Group full time, signalling its continued ambition and commitment to lead the financial services sector in creating a more open culture in the work place.
Jan joined Aviva in 2008, and played a key role in establishing the Aviva brand across the Group, most recently developing the “Good Thinking” campaign which launched in the UK at the start of 2016. She will formally take on her new role in January 2017.
Sarah Morris, Chief People Officer at Aviva said;
“Building a strong culture of inclusive diversity is central to Aviva’s future success. Every one of our customers is different, just as every one of our people brings something different to work.
“Inclusion isn’t just about gender or ethnicity, or sexual orientation or age. It’s about ‘people’ and making sure we recognise the diverse talents, experiences and perspectives of everyone at Aviva. It makes good business sense.
“I am delighted Jan is taking up this important role and joining my leadership team to build on the progress we have already made, helping to build a legacy of inclusive culture.”
Jan is one of the leading advocates of inclusion issues in her role as the Chair of Trustees at Stonewall as well as promoting diversity and inclusion through her work as a member of the Executive Committee for Women in Advertising and Communications London.
Jan Gooding said;
“I am thrilled to have been appointed into this role with all the challenges and opportunities that go with it. The business case has been evidenced again and again across the world: people perform better at work when they can be themselves.
“Simply put, this is another example of Good Thinking by Aviva, focusing attention on an area which will ensure we attract and keep the best talent and are better able to serve our customers. Varied and balanced voices leads to improvements in creativity, productivity and profitability in every sector.”
