Aviva plc has appointed Carole Jones as its London-based director of Global HR Strategy & Organisational Development.
Aviva plc has appointed Carole Jones as its London-based director of global HR strategy and organisational development. This newly-created role puts her in charge of developing people-strategies that apply across the whole of Aviva’s global business.
Carole will focus on ensuring the company’s HR policies and systems are consistent across the world. She is also responsible for embedding Aviva’s culture of individual recognition across the group. One of her first priorities will be to implement “Workday,” a cloud-based HR software system that will, for the first time, put all 36,100 Aviva employees on the same platform.
She has recently returned to Britain from the US where she led HR for the North America region. While there she worked on the company’s ‘one Aviva’ vision, helping to unite the US and Canadian business and its people behind the single Aviva brand. Before moving to the US, she worked on the 2008 rebrand of Norwich Union to Aviva. She’s been with the company since 1998.
Jones will report directly to Aviva’s group HR director, John Ainley.
“Carole’s leadership over the last six years has been instrumental in helping build a global HR function at Aviva,’’ Ainley said. “Everything Carole has been involved with has brought us closer to ensuring Aviva is an employer which recognises its people for their individual strengths and contributions. This allows our people to better recognise our customers’ needs. Her role on the Aviva HR executive will no doubt prove a real asset to the global team.”
Jones has worked as both an HR director and employee engagement director for Norwich Union Life (now Aviva UK) following stints as HR business partner for the company’s Operations and Consumer divisions. She studied history at Sheffield University.
