The private bank Gries & Heissel Bankiers AG, part of Delta Lloyd Germany, appointed Mike Sladek as the new Berlin branch manager on 1 December 2008. The 36-year old, together with his team of seven private bankers, will build on the bank's market position in Berlin.
"We are delighted that Mike Sladek is strengthening our private banking team in Berlin, joining as branch manager. He has excellent contacts in the area and a broad experience in dealing with demanding customers. Because of this he is in the best position to develop our Berlin bank into one of the leading financial services providers," says Franz-Josef Müller, member of the board of Gries & Heissel Bankiers AG. Gries & Heissel is originally a Berlin-based private bank. It was founded 22 years ago.
Sladek brings almost 20 years' experience in the banking sector and customer advice. Before joining Gries & Heissel he was acting director of portfolio management at ICM Investment Bank AG in Berlin, where he looked after wealthy customers in fund management and played a significant part in the expansion of this area of business. Previously, he led the Berliner Volksbank customer advice centre in Charlottenburg-Halensee for many years. His duties included comprehensive customer advice as well as the development of the site. Sladek's career began in 1990 at the Berlin Landeszentralbank where he worked as a securities clerk. From 1992 to 1994 he successfully completed training at the Berliner Volksbank to become a qualified bank clerk. Building on this experience, he decided to study at the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management. He has also been lecturing in banking (securities and retail banking) at the GenoAkademie BankColleg for over 10 years.
Sladek is a keen golfer, is married and has been living in Berlin, where he now feels rooted, for 25 years. He sees himself as a banker, in the truest sense of the word, who is an honest caretaker of his customers' wealth with the highest standards for the quality of his advice and customer support. And despite the high sums he is working with, he remains modest.
