This week the rank and file membership of the Verliespolis Foundation also voted massively in favour of the agreement reached between the foundations and Delta Lloyd Group over a financial arrangement for the costs of unit-linked insurance policies. In total 97% of the 6,409 people with voting rights at Verliespolis supported the agreement. 99% of the 2,684 Delta Lloyd Group policy holders affiliated with the Woekerpolisclaim Foundation had already voted in favour of the agreement.
The outcome of the poll of the rank and file membership underlines the quality of the agreement which Delta Lloyd Group had reached with the foundations. According to Niek Hoek, chairman of the board of directors of Delta Lloyd Group: "It is clear from this that the members of the foundations and the clients of Delta Lloyd Group have faith in this agreement. With this, we, as the leading insurer, have in our view taken a significant step towards restoring trust in our sector."
Delta Lloyd Group reached agreement on 9 September with the Verliespolis and Woekerpolisclaim foundations over a financial compensation arrangement for policyholders with private unit-linked insurance policies. It was then agreed with the foundations that they would put the agreement to a vote of their members. Given the outcome of the consultations held with the members of both foundations, this condition has now more than been met. The agreement applies to all those insured by Delta Lloyd, OHRA, Erasmus Insurance and Nationaal Spaarfonds with unit-linked insurance policies either affiliated or not affiliated with one of the foundations.
The agreement will now be further fleshed out in collaboration with the foundations. Those insured with Delta Lloyd Group need take no action themselves in order to be considered for the financial arrangement, and will receive information from Delta Lloyd Group towards the end of 2009 regarding the consequences of the agreement for their individual policies.
