Aviva Romania has had a very successful year in 2007. At the start of the year we were a small, relatively unknown player in the small Romanian life insurance sector.
- Adrian Allot, CEO Aviva Pensii and finance director Aviva Romania will be leaving the group at the end of this month.
Eugen Voicu will take up the newly created position of MD Asset Management, which combines his current role as CEO Certinvest with those of CEO Aviva Pensii and investment director, Aviva Viata.
Phil Jones has been appointed finance director for Aviva Romania. - Ovidiu Galatanu, director IT, systems and operations will be leaving the group at the end of this month.
Corina Bimbasa has been appointed director, operations for Aviva Romania.
Andrei Ogrodnic will be interim director, IT until a permanent appointment is made. - Andi McLennan, director marketing has moved to a new marketing role in Aviva Asia.
Adriana Filip has been appointed director marketing for Aviva Romania.
Aviva Romania has had a very successful year in 2007. At the start of the year we were a small, relatively unknown player in the small Romanian life insurance sector. By the end of the year we had secured fourth position in the strategically important mandatory pensions market, having over 300,000 pension' customers and will start collections later this year. This is a credit to our employees, agents and partners, who have been working tirelessly for many months.
As we move from the initial adhesion period into ‘business as usual' there is a need to make some changes.
Adrian, Ovidiu and Andi played leading parts in our recent success and I would like to thank them for their commitment and dedication to the business. On behalf of everyone at Aviva Romania, I wish them the very best of luck for the future.
To be the market leading business Aviva Romania aspires to, we will need to maintain the momentum we have demonstrated recently. I am sure the changes to the senior management team will help us do so.
Eugen Voicu joined Aviva with the acquisition of Certinvest at the end of 2007. Eugen founded Certinvest in 1994 and the company is the oldest mutual fund business in Romania. Ultimately, asset management is at the heart of all three Aviva Romania businesses and Eugen brings with him a wealth of experience, knowledge and relationships to this most critical role.
Phil Jones joined us from a consulting role and is an experienced insurance finance director who has carried out a number of senior roles within Aviva and other leading multinational insurance organisations. Phil is a Chartered Secretary and holds an MBA in Finance in Financial Services from Manchester Business School and the University of Wales.
I am particularly pleased to announce the promotion of Adriana Filip and Corina Bimbasa. It demonstrates our commitment to recognise and develop talent from within the business.
Adriana joined Aviva in December 2005 as programme manager. Her most recent role was co-ordinating our entry in to the private pensions market (Pillar II and Pillar III). Before joining Aviva she was a part of the project managers team in Raiffeisen bank, leading the implementation of Basel II. Adriana holds an MBA in Marketing from ASE Bucharest and University of Ottawa.
Prior to joining Aviva at the start of 2007, Corina worked in customer service roles for Cetelem (BNP) and Vodafone. She was instrumental in establishing and developing the operational capability of Aviva Pensii. In her new role, Corina will coordinate the activity of Customer Services, Underwriting and Policy Administration departments for Aviva Romania as a whole. Corina is a Marketing graduate from ASE Bucharest and also has a post-graduate diploma in Communication and Public Relations from the same institution.

Aviva began operating as a provider of life insurance in Romania in 2000 (Aviva Life Insurance SA) and currently insures over 430,000 Romanians.
On 26 July 2007, Aviva received approval from the Oversight Committee for the System of Private Pensions to set up a company to administer private pensions (Aviva Administration Company for a Private Pension Fund SA), and on 25 August received authorisation to administer its mandatory pension fund - Pensia Viva.
