More than 46,500 Aviva Canada Inc. (formerly CGU) auto insurance policyholders in Nova Scotia will be receiving rebates before the end of the month.
Aviva is also pleased to confirm its continued commitment to Nova Scotians and the Nova Scotia marketplace, thanks to recent progress in determining appropriate regulations for insurance in the province.
“Aviva is proud of our commitment to our policyholders and broker partners in Nova Scotia. We're still here; our commitment has not wavered since 1912, when we began insuring residents of this province,” says Aviva’s president and CEO, Igal Mayer.
“Bill 1, with the accompanying regulations recently announced, represents major reform to automobile insurance in the province. It is a positive step to ensure Nova Scotians can receive automobile insurance from a competitive marketplace, with premium rates that will be substantially lower and more stable than recent years,” says Mr Mayer.
“We will continue to work with the provincial government to implement solutions that will be to the benefit of all parties – regulators, insurers, our broker partners, and most importantly, residents of the province of Nova Scotia.
“Continued automobile insurance reform aimed at achieving a balance between affordability of insurance and claims costs will ultimately be to the benefit of consumers,” agrees Jennifer Power, senior vice-president of Aviva’s Atlantic region. “We are glad to be a part of positive progress resulting from cooperation between the provincial government and our industry.”
In total, Aviva is issuing more than $4,000,000 in rebate cheques to its automobile insurance customers in Nova Scotia.
