Aviva, a major player in life insurance and long-term savings, asset management and non-life insurance, has organised an event for tennis enthusiasts over the age of 35.

Created and organised by Sport Plus Conseil, the Aviva Tennis Open is a national tournament divided into five age events and two level categories. The qualifying rounds began on 9 March in 40 towns around France and will end on 20 September. Each one will be overseen by Aviva insurance consultants.

The final will take place from 31 October to 4 November 2009, at Club Med Pompadour in France's Limousin region.

Open to members of the French Tennis Federation aged 35 years and over, the Aviva Open counts towards players' individual rankings. There will be various prizes for the winners of the regional tournaments and the finalists will win a break for two people in Seville or Florence.

With more than 5,500 participants expected this year, the Aviva Open has become a leading event in amateur tennis.

In the third Aviva Open last year, nearly 5,000 competitors took part in one of the 40 qualifying rounds and more than 440 people made it to the clay courts of Club Med Pompadour to join in this celebration of tennis.
